Water

I am currently working on a series based on the elements. I decided to work on wood this time and allow the grain of the wood to pull through, throughout the piece. I was also very inspired by the art nouveau era. I enjoy contrasting a sharp, patterned border with the soft and organic feel of the human figure.
I am almost done with this piece and I will post the sketch for the next one soon.

Testing Paper

I had the urge to play around with handmade paper the other day. I tea stained this paper and then added ink and watercolor to create a distressed background. I started to work on the figure but I didn't like how rough the paper was.

I moved onto arches watercolor paper which was so much better. The paper had enough tooth to create some sort of texture while still allowing me to render the face.

An Art Show for our City

I will be in a group showing October the 14, 2011. It will be at 1049 Eldridge Rd. in Sugar Land from 6-10pm. I am excited to be a part of a show that is bringing the arts to Sugar Land. If you can make it I would love to see you there!

Below is the information that was posted about the show:

Friday, Oct 14, 2011 6-10PM
Free to the public
1049 Eldridge, Sugar Land
SPECTRUM is an art show that we put together to show the creativity of our many local artists. While there have been many art shows in Sugar Land, we feel this one is unique as it taps into a vein of creativity that you would normally expect to find in other parts of Houston. We take that style and create a gallery around it that gives it the perfect environment to come alive.
We hope that this one night only showing will both inspire you and expand your desire to help our city's art culture. Find a date and/or some friends and come join us! There will be plenty of drinks, conversation and most of all, a chance to experience art in our city.

Fashion Rules!

I have two of my paintings on display in Neiman Marcus this weekend, along with three other artist. I attended the opening reception and it was so much fun. There were models placed in front of each artist work and they had clothing corresponding to the colors in the art. It was a night of great fashion and art... such a good time!

Here are some pictures from the show:
