Sorry it has been so long since I last wrote. This last year has been an amazingly wonderful and hectic time. It started out with the birth of our first son Noah, my big sister's beautiful wedding in Greece, and a few family scares that have definetly taught me to appreciate the ones that I love. Fortunately, I was able to keep up with my medical art but sadly my fine art had to take a back seat.
Well... I would like to officially say I'M BACK, and completely inspired!
For a while now, I have had big plans for a series of mermaid paintings. Well, I am now at the point where I have done enough research and enough sketches to have a good solid series of paintings. I want to create a group of work that displays the beauty of the human form as well as the mystery of mermaids. From Giambologna to John Jude Palencar, I looked to artist of the past a present for inspiration.
I recently had a great photo shoot with a group of beautiful models for this series, and now it's just time to work. I am hoping to have the series done by the end of the year and also to share the entire process with you.
The painting above is the piece that I am currently working on.
